Kenyan ETA for Indians Citizens
ETA is the certification that is usually stamped on passports or other travel documents allowing the holder to travel to, stay within, and leave the territories of the government that issued the certification. Kenyan Government has its requirements as well. ETA of Kenya for Indians Citizens
Indian citizens require an eTA to enter the Kenyan borders as well. They are required to fill out the Kenya application form with authentic Personal, Passport, and Travel information. By visiting the official travel website of Kenya, Indian citizens can fill it up as required and submit it to the website after paying for the application online. They would not require to go to the Kenyan embassy on the territories of India to apply for the ETA. If the information and supporting documents provided are authentic and accepted then the petitioner will receive the ETA through mail on their email. The approved application might require 2-3 business days to arrive.
The validity of the eTA of Kenya is 90 consecutive days and the ETA holder is required to carry the ETA everywhere with himself during his trip to Kenya. The validation of the eTA starts right after the approval of the ETA. By applying from the Immigration Headquarters of Kenya in Nairobi, the 90 days validation can be extended up to 6 months or 180 days but no more. Indian citizens with a Kenyan eTA are required to enter Kenya only through the permitted entry points. They can exit from any point.
Types of ETA
The eTA of Kenya serves single entries only and anyone requiring multiple entries is required to apply for a different kind of ETA. There are different kinds of Kenyan ETAs available for Indian citizens. Depending on the purpose of the visit and the number of visits required the ETA types vary.
Single Entry Visit:
Indian citizens entering Kenya with a purpose of a short visit for either tourism or completing a small mission requires a single entry visit ETA of Kenya. Using this ETA the immigrants can not enter Kenya the second time after leaving the Kenyan borders once.
Multiple Entry Visit:
Indian citizens wishing to enter Kenya multiple times require this ETA. Generally to continue business on Kenyan soil require this ETA as they need to go across the country for trading purposes.
Transit ETA:
Indian citizens requiring to stop at Kenyan ports to reach their original destination which is not Kenya require a transit ETA. It is a single-use ETA with a validity of three days. The transit ETA is not issued to immigrants for tourism or business.
Diplomatic ETA:
Diplomats of India representing India on Kenyan land holding a diplomatic passport are granted this ETA. They require this to perform their official duties.
Service ETA:
A service ETA is a ETA granted to Indian government employees who travel to Kenya for work. Government employees who do not have a diplomatic passport have a service ETA.
ETA Requirements for an Indian
The selected Kenya eTA requirements must be fulfilled while applying for the eTA to get approval.
- The passport must have a validity of 6 months and contain at least two blank pages for the eTA to be stamped.
- The applicant has to submit the confirmation page of the application along with the date and the signature of the applicant or else the printout of the Kenyan eTA to the immigration officer at the airport.
- The applicant has to submit two copies of a passport-sized photo with the eTA and the photos must be clear, visible, and recent. The photos provided for the eTA must be identical to the photo provided for the passport.
- The applicant has to submit proof of his residence in Kenya which could be a hotel reservation ticket and also his flight reservation ticket.
- The applicant is to submit his/ her bank statement.
- The applicant also has to show the certification of yellow fever vaccination and Covid-19 vaccination. As Kenya is prone to yellow fever and Covid-19 it is mandatory to be vaccinated against the two diseases before entering Kenya.

How to Get an eTA
The quickest way to get the eTA of Kenya for an Indian citizen is by filling up the application form online. Here are the steps an Indian citizen would require to follow for the online procedure of applying for a ETA.
Filling Up Application Form:
By getting the online application from the official travel website of Kenya one is required to provide all the information asked. Indian citizens can easily get a Kenyan ETA and it is not as complicated as obtaining a ETA from the USA. In the application, the mandatory information must be provided and all the information has to be authentic and correct. Providing wrong information will delay the ETA obtaining process or even cancel it. The information provided for the ETA must be identical to the information provided for the passport. The form asks for personal information like name, age, gender, address, etc. It also asks for some documents of the applicant.
Payment Method:
After filling up the application form completely one is required to select the method of payment. The Indian citizen can pay it online by supplying the information of his bank account or pay offline through cheque or demand drafts.
Confirmation Email:
After paying for the application one is to wait from several hours to 2-3 days for the confirmation email to arrive. The Kenyan eTA will be sent to the email address provided by the Indian citizen. The applicant must bring the Kenyan eTA along with other documents required at the airport. The Kenyan ETA is issued electronically. After checking all the documents along with the Kenyan eTA print out the immigration officer will stamp the passport.
