Kenya eTA for Germans Citizens
Updated Entry Requirements for Germans Traveling to Kenya:
Amidst the ongoing pandemic, the government of Kenya has revised the travelling rules and entry/exit guidelines for travellers from around the world. Here are all the latest updates and rules for German travellers looking to acquire a Kenyan eTA.
All German citizens must obtain a Travellers Health Surveillance form before entering Kenya. This is a new entry requirement introduced by the country because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Depending on the purpose of the visit, German travellers will need to apply Kenya eTA from Germany before travelling to Kenya. For your information, Kenya eTA is issued for tourism, business, or medical treatment purposes.
German citizens can apply for an online ETA or eTA through a simple, quick, and straightforward application process. The ETA will allow them to stay in Kenya for a minimum duration of 30 days. However, the ETA can be extended at least twice. This means they can stay in Kenya for up to 6 months.
Do German Passport Holders Require a ETA for Entering Kenya?
Yes, German passport holders must possess a valid ETA to gain entry permission. Only a select few countries are exempt from this requirement. Citizens of countries who have a ETA-waiver agreement with Kenya can enter the country without a ETA. Germany isn't one of them.
The Kenyan government has simplified the ETA obtaining process by making it entirely digital. It is now a fast-paced process where applicants can apply from the comfort of their homes. They need to fill out an application form to provide personal, passport, and travel-related data and submit the required documents.
Kenya Electronic ETA Requirements for Germans

- A debit or credit card to pay the eTA application fees.
- If any of these requirements aren't met, the applicant won't be able to submit their application or receive a ETA.

Kenya eTA Processing Time:
The eTA application from Germany is processed within 1 to 3 business days. However, applicants must submit their application at least seven days before their intended date of arrival in Kenya.
After approval, the eTA is sent to the email address the applicant provided in the eTA form. Once you receive the eTA, get several copies of the eTA printed and save a digital copy of the eTA on your mobile or any other handheld device. You will be asked to present the eTA either in digital or printed form to the border control authorities upon arriving in the Republic of Kenya.
Kenya eTA Application Form Guidelines for Germans
You must complete the eTA application form carefully. After entering all the details, please go through the form again to rule out any inconsistencies or mistakes. Even minor errors like mismatching of birth date on passport and eTA application can lead to rejection of your eTA application.
Be extra careful when typing contact detail and email address since the eTA will be delivered electronically to the email ID you provide in the form. Avoid typo errors at all costs, and refer to your passport's biography page when filling out personal and passport-related data.
Kenya Electronic eTA Validity
Kenya electronic eTA holder German citizens can stay for a maximum duration of 90 days at a time. The eTA will be valid for up to three months from the date of issue.
Travellers can extend the eTA validity for 90 days more while staying in the country. For extending their eTA validity, German travellers must visit their nearest Kenyan immigration office.
Can German Citizens Get a Kenya eTA on Arrival?
German citizens can't get a eTA on arrival. The Kenyan government discontinued this facility in January 2021. From February 2021, all foreign citizens must obtain a eTA before reaching the Kenyan border.
